Our Why

Nautsa’mawt FC is a team with a reconciliation dream aligned to Hope and Health’s mission to maximize the power of sport to engage, educate and empower Indigenous children and youth, cultivating their inner champions. As a purpose driven club in League 1 BC our model is to provide access and opportunity for Indigenous player and coach mentorship and to bring inspiration and social impact across Indigenous communities through the beautiful game- as one heart, one mind.

By activating our “champions for life” development model, we will create a pathway for Indigenous athletes and other roles surrounding the sport/team to have access and mentorship to be successful in places and spaces that they are currently not represented. And through this, for the future generation of Indigenous soccer players- our little champions- to aspire to achieve their greatest potential and dreams.

Furthermore, we have witnessed the powerful personal growth and impact for the UBC athletes who have been involved in Hope and Health development initiatives. Bringing the reconciliation priority to the League 1BC experience will truly unleash the leadership potential for the coaches and players- on and off the pitch and transform the vision from “being the best in BC to “being the best for BC”.
